We are committed to promoting and supporting true and sustainable developmental impact through the festival. After conducting an in-depth assessment of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and mapping our activities against relevant targets, we are proud to state that our work support the following goals: Gender Equality, Decent Work & Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, Sustainable Cities, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
These aforementioned Sustainable Development Goals inform and guide all of our activities, and were selected after an in-depth review and mapping of the underlying targets and indicators for each of these SDGs. Detailed below you can find some brief examples of how we actively live and honour each of these SDGs in our events, actives, leadership and governance.
Gender Equality: is a driving and cross-sectional theme that is hardcoded into our events and organisation. We contribute actively towards this SDG by ensuring that female artists and musicians receive preferential consideration, and that at least 50% of our leadership team at all times is comprised of female executives.
Decent Work & Economic Growth: is a pivotal theme for the development of a democratic, economically sound, and vibrant Sudan. We contribute actively towards this SDG by ensuring and advocating fair renumeration for artists, actively promoting their impactful work, providing transparent accounts, and constant commitment to non-profit status.
Reduced Inequalities: is critical in promoting a culture that values diversity, and acceptance of the other. We contribute actively towards this SDG by ensuring that our events are free for all, and as such easily accessible by all segments of society. Equally, we seek diversity and geographic representation when selecting artists and curating events.
Sustainable Cities & Communities: is an important commitment to support the development and rebuilding of Sudan. We actively contribute towards this SDG by selecting venues where we can provide an added value, and ideally leave them in a better state than we found them. Additionally, we actively plant trees at events to combat deforestation.
Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions: is at the heart of Sudan's journey towards a democratic state. We actively contribute towards this SDG by providing a safe, non-political platform where Sudanese of all walks of life can come, meet, and build a common framework of understanding and acceptance - thus sowing the seed for peace, and justice.
