SUDAN RELIEF
We have now reached our goal of raising $10,000!
Our aim was simple: to fundraise for flood and COVID-19 relief efforts in Sudan. 100% of funds raised were donated to the Sudanese American Medical Association to support their medical supplies program and the shipment of a 40-foot container carrying medical supplies to Sudan. Donations were made through:
General donations
Acquiring an original painting by a contemporary Sudanese artist
Supported by 10 talented contemporary Sudanese artists living in Europe, South Africa, and the United States, the drive afforded us the unique opportunity to showcase a gallery of donated artwork that wove together themes of home, displacement, revolution, belonging, loss, and love.
OUR PARTNER
The Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA) is one of the leading organizations that actively provide high quality medical supplies to public hospitals and medical centers in Sudan. SAMA will be administrating the distribution of medical supplies supported by this fundraiser to local hospitals in coordination with local physicians, volunteers, and its SAMA Sudan office staff.
The Process:
Local physicians in Sudan supply SAMA with a “wish list” of medical supplies
SAMA fundraises and purchases medical supplies and equipments
SAMA ships a 40-foot freight container to Sudan
SAMA Sudan Office receives container and distributes medical supplies to public hospitals and medical centers.
In response to the recent deadly floods, SAMA has distributed 400 bed nets to combat the spread of Malaria, and is in the process of providing medical supplies to the Turkish Teaching Hospital (TTH) in Alkalakla for the local community. SAMA is also in the process of clearing customs for its third 40-foot container of medical supplies to be distributed to areas affected by the floods. Its fourth container, in partnership with the Sudanese Doctors Union of Ireland, has successfully arrived in Port Sudan.
Since the beginning of COVID-19, SAMA was the first organization on the ground responding by delivering their second 40-foot container of aid, installed a central oxygen supply unit at TTH, and distributed medical supplies and Personal Protective Equipment to over 20 hospitals in Khartoum State, Gezira, Kassala and the River Nile states with a total value of $474,980.
Your donation will support the shipment of the fifth 40-foot container to deliver necessary aid for the people of Sudan.
