Dar Al Naim is a Sudanese-Spanish artist currently based near Madrid, Spain. Her extensive body of work reflects her dynamic lifestyle, shifting environments and eclectic background. Having lived in Sudan, Spain, Italy, the UK and Tanzania her artistry tells the tales of a diasporic wanderer. By merging several seemingly incompatible worlds into a new universe, Dar Al Naim wants to amplify the astonishment of the spectator by creating compositions or settings that generate tranquil poetic images that leave traces and balances on the edge of recognition and alienation. Dar Al Naim received her honorary degree in printmaking and bookbinding from Oxford Brookes University specialising in silkscreen, intaglio and lino printing. With her traditional training and compulsive need to produce she wanders the edge of what is possible mixing a variety of (non-)traditional techniques and styles. With rubber stamps, potato prints, cardboard plates and recycled materials, she explores existentialist dramas transcending gender, class and race.
